Informative Scorton

When a lodge does not have a ceremony to perform it is a nice change to have someone deliver a lecture rather than just undertake a demonstration of the ritual.
Melvyn Cross and Les Newlands

Such was the case at the meeting of Scorton Mark Lodge No 1103 held at Wyrebank, Garstang.
Worshipful Master Les Newland welcomed Melvyn Cross to the meeting to deliver a lecture entitled “ A History of Mark Masonry.” The lecture proved informative and entertaining. It was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

It was only a relatively brief meeting but nonetheless an enjoyable one and formed a fitting prelude to the “good craic” at the meal which followed.
The tranquil canal basin
The tranquillity of the surrounding with the Lancaster Canal looking like a mirror in the Autumnal moon was in sharp contrast to what awaited at the A6 for the journey north. There was a planned closure M6 southbound which meant there was a steady stream of heavy traffic on the A6. Fortunately traffic lights further up the road meant it was possible to escape from the junction onto the A6 but the route north was illuminated by bright lights from all the HGVs heading in the opposite direction. Still the pleasant evening at Scorton Mark made the uncomfortable travelling worthwhile.
